Whipped up this quick sketch, done entirely digitally in Manga Studio 4 Debut (which I'm liking more and more). Going for an animated feel in the style of the great Bruce Timm (Batman: the Animated Series):

Finally, after many years of yearning from afar, I was able to get the Wacom tablet I wanted.
Making a concerted effort to use it at least an hour per day.

Upcoming Art Exhibit - Featuring Moi!

Starting Saturday, March 19th, two of my pieces will be on display at Gallery Provocateur in Chicago, IL.
They will be part of the Frank Frazetta Tribute Exhibition which will run from March 19th to June 15th.
Both pieces, as well as all the rest of the artwork on display, will be available for purchase, with gallery proceeds going to a charity for children's diabetes.

Knight in Shining Space Armor

This is a re-envisioning of a sketch I did almost exactly three years ago.

It's fun to go back and revisit old ideas with a fresh perspective.

For comparison, I'm including the old sketch - kept the character designs overall, but changed pretty much everything else

Further Grayscale Studies

Did some more quick grayscale studies, just trying to get the feel for the media - in this case, Copic toner markers, and how they behave and look on standard comic book paper (BlueLine Pro 3-ply board).

Very quick sketches with even quicker gray tones. It's been a long time since I've worked with non-computer media other than black ink, so still have a lot to re-learn (that "Undo" feature doesn't work very well outside of Photoshop).

Grayscale Study

A quick study I did to get a feel for light sources and composition. Tentatively titled "Dejah Alone."

The image is that of Dejah Thoris, Princess of Mars (from the Burroughs series of books), during the 10-year period that John Carter was back on Earth.
